Association Between Tumor Necrosis Factor-x and Disease Progression in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis NEJM 325:467-472, Shareif,M.K.&Hentges,R., 1991 See this aricle in Pubmed Article Abstract These data provide evidence of intrathecal synthesis of TNF-x in multiple sclerosis and suggest that the level of TNF-x in cerebrospinal fluid correlates with the severity and progression of the disease.Our results suggest that TNF-x may reflect histologic disease activity in multiple sclerosis and could be used to monitor outcomes or responses to therapy.
